Education Policy
At the most basic level, policies serve as a set of agreed-upon rules that help dictate how individuals or groups of people operate under specific circumstances. But how does “policy” apply to and exist as it relates to education? The Education Policy programs at the GSE explore this very question, challenging students to investigate both formal and informal learning contexts with consideration of the governing economic, political, legal, administrative, and social factors that influence individual learning and entire educational organizations and systems.
With several faculty consistently ranked among the most influential university-based researchers in the country shaping educational practice and policy, the GSE is the place to go for expert training in this field. Students may approach the discipline from an administrative perspective, with both degree and non-degree programs preparing qualified candidates to obtain NJ certification as principals, supervisors, teacher leaders, school administrators, reading specialists, and more. A number of doctoral programs at the GSE also serve to directly advance scholarship surrounding education policy, offering advanced study in the field, at the highest level, as it relates to disciplines including early childhood education, mathematics education, higher education, special education, and language education, amongst many others. Where do you want to make your impact?
