Important GSE Convocation Requirements
Be sure to apply for your diploma here by April 1st.
You must be in proper graduate level regalia (cap, hood & gown) to participate in the GSE Convocation. Master’s robes and doctoral robes are not interchangeable. Ordering information can be found below.
If you are a GSE master’s degree candidate and you plan to graduate in August 2024 you are permitted to walk at the convocation in May 2024 provided you are registered for everything you need to graduate in Summer 2024. NOTE: Your name will not be in the program, it will appear in next year’s program.
Doctoral degree candidates (Ph.D., Ph.D. in H.E., and Ed.D.) must be 100% defended and confirmed to walk and be hooded at May 2024 convocation, otherwise you will graduate in October 2024 and will be eligible for May 2025 convocation. Doctoral students cannot graduate in August.
Tickets and Invitations
Students do not need to RSVP for GSE’s graduation. We look forward to greeting all graduates!
We have seating for as many guests as you want to bring, and they do not need tickets.

Cap and Gowns
Academic Regalia for the 2024 Commencement and Convocation ceremonies is available for online purchase now through March 31st.

Online orders offer these delivery options:
- Ship to store for no extra charge. Must order for ship to store by February 29 for pick up at Barnes & Noble starting April 4.
- Ship to home for an additional delivery charge. The deadline to order with ship to home option is March 31st.
Purchase regalia in-store OR pick up online orders at Barnes & Noble on Somerset Street beginning April 4.
Grad Fair will be held at Barnes & Noble on April 4th & 5th from 10am-6pm. Join in the festivities, come for a complimentary professional headshot, and meet with representatives for purchasing class rings, diploma frames, personalized announcements and more!
Day of Graduation

Rutgers has partnered with Pro Pics to take professional portraits of all graduates during the ceremony. Photos will be available for purchase after the ceremony. There is no cost to have your photo taken and no obligation to purchase. If you would like to receive your photo proofs, please go to www.RutgersPhotos.com to submit your information. If you have any questions regarding photos, please contact Pro Pics at info@propicsusa.com.
