Anchoring Higher Ed conference at Rutgers University – Newark

10:00 am - 5:00 pm

The P3 Collaboratory is pleased to announce its second biennial Anchoring Higher Ed conference, on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at Rutgers University – Newark! This year’s theme, “Recovery and Resilience in the Post-Pandemic Classroom,” will explore how high-impact pedagogical practices, a commitment to social emotional learning and an ethics of care, tech advances and collaborations, and student research breakthroughs have the potential to radically change student outcomes. Our lunchtime keynote speaker will be Dr. Cia Verschelden, educational expert and author of Bandwidth Recovery: Helping Students Reclaim Cognitive Resources Lost to Poverty, Racism, and Social Marginalization. (Learn more about our Bandwidth Recovery bookclub here.) We are seeking proposals for 45-60-or-75 min. sessions that examine and actively demonstrate innovative and enterprising strategies for student support, success, and engagement, as well as proposals centering the role of experimentation, recovery, rest, and innovation, in faculty development and the day-to-day work of faculty members and student-facing staff. Interested conference presenters / facilitators are requested to submit a 250-word proposal using this form by February 28, 2023. (Email p3colab@newark.rutgers.edu to request an extended deadline.) Proposals are welcomed for solo paper presentations, round table discussions, workshops / demonstrations, co-led sessions, and panel presentations. Staff and graduate students in instructional roles are especially encouraged to submit! This conference is sponsored by the P3 Collaboratory for Pedagogy, Professional Development, and Publicly-Engaged Scholarship at Rutgers-Newark, and is designed to spur new thinking on teaching and learning, while centering collaboration and democracy in our work.
