Program Overview

Ed.M. with English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher Certification

The Ed.M. program with (K-12) ESL teacher certification is designed for individuals who already possess a bachelor’s degree and wish to pursue initial ESL teacher certification and a master’s degree in education at the same time.

5-Year Program with Certification in English as a Second Language (K-12)

The 5-Year Program with Certification in English as a Second Language (K-12) covers a range of foundational topics in K-12 education including the principles of classroom learning, evaluation and assessment, and classroom organization, but with specific attention paid to how they can be applied to improve the educational outcomes of English language and bilingual learners.

Non-degree English as a Second Language Endorsement Program

The non-degree English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsement program offered at the GSE provides candidates with a foundational understanding of English language learning in K-12 settings; of English language instruction and assessment strategies; and of the relationships between language and culture in multilingual and diverse communities.

Non-degree ESL and Bilingual/Bicultural Education Endorsement Program

The endorsement program provides candidates with a foundational understanding of English language learning and Bilingual Education in K-12 settings; of English language and Bilingual instruction and assessment strategies; and of the relationships between language and culture in multilingual and diverse communities.
