Carolyn Nalewajko serves as the Director for Operations and Strategy at the Rutgers GSE’s Center for Minority Serving Institutions. She is a native of Philadelphia, where she also graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Sociology. Her educational interests include first-generation college students and gender inequality studies. Her interest in sociological issues in today’s world deepened during her freshman year while she was working at Penn’s College Achievement Program, which offers moral and educational support to a diverse group of scholastically talented students, many of whom came from first-generation and/or low-income backgrounds. Coming from a first-generation background herself, Carolyn was able to relate and understand the obstacles those students overcome to get an education.
