Learning Sciences Lunch and Learn with Dr. Maha Bali from The American University in Cairo
The format for this event will be hybrid with both in-person and virtual options. Our speaker will be presenting in person. However, all students and faculty are invited and encouraged to join us in the GSE Lecture Hall (Room 124) to connect with each other in-person and with the speaker virtually. Lunch will be provided!
For those who cannot attend in person, there is an option to attend virtually via Zoom.
In this interactive session, participants will explore ways of developing different dimensions of critical AI literacy in engaging ways, while also centering compassion in our approach towards AI. There will be space for participants to share their own attitudes and strategies towards AI, and reflect collectively on how to approach future decisions related to AI.

Bio:
Maha Bali is Professor of Practice at the Center for Learning and Teaching at the American University in Cairo. She has a PhD in Education from the University of Sheffield, UK. She is co-founder of virtuallyconnecting.org (a grassroots movement that challenges academic gatekeeping at conferences) and co-facilitator of Equity Unbound (an equity-focused, open, connected intercultural learning curriculum, which has also branched into academic community activities Continuity with Care, Socially Just Academia, a collaboration with OneHE: Community-building Resources and MYFest, an innovative 3-month professional learning journey.
