Dr. Richard De Lisi Recognized for Devotion to GSE Alumni

Dr. Richard De Lisi received the Richard P. McCormick Award, a Rutgers Excellence in Alumni Leadership Award, for his commitment to the Graduate School of Education Alumni Association (GSEAA) while Dean of the Graduate School of Education (GSE). He was honored at the Rutgers Excellence in Alumni Leadership Awards ceremony, presented by the Rutgers University Alumni Association on Friday, September 12, 2014. The awards ceremony was held at the Life Sciences Building in Piscataway, New Jersey.
 
 
During his leadership, Dr. De Lisi strengthened the relationship between alumni and students by co-sponsoring initiatives such as a new graduate dinner and a student/alumni information exchange. GSEAA leaders Barbara Whitman, President; Arleen Urban, Member at Large; and Roberta Kanarick, Immediate Past President; nominated Dr. De Lisi in recognition of his longstanding dedication to the GSEAA.
 
“It is an honor to be recognized by the Rutgers University Alumni Association,” said Dr. De Lisi. “I will continue to value and support GSE alumni through GSEAA.”
 
Dr. De Lisi was also a honoree at the 2004 GSEAA Distinguished Faculty Lecture. In 2006, GSEAA partnered with Dr. De Lisi to form the GSEAA Endowed Scholarship.
 
Dr. De Lisi served as dean of the GSE from 2003 to 2014 and has worked at the GSE since 1976. Dr. De Lisi is a developmental psychologist with a special expertise in cognitive and sex-role development from early childhood to early adulthood. Dr. Lisi is currently a University Professor in the Department of Educational Psychology in the GSE
