Alumna and Students Illustrate Diffusion’s Role in the Spread of Folk Culture to Pop Culture with Harlem Shake Video

The students of AP Human Geography at Booker T. Washington High School were looking at diffusion and the role it plays in the spread of folk culture to popular culture.

They used the example of how the Harlem Shake started off as a urban dance in an isolated area of New York in the 1980s and it has evolved into a worldwide dance crave.
