Position Overview:
Franklin School, an innovative coeducational high school in Jersey City, NJ, is currently seeking a self-directed, experienced, and energetic High School Humanities Teacher to begin in August 2024 for the 24-25 academic school year.
Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver high quality, student-centered learning experiences that are engaging and differentiated to meet the needs of the students.
- Collaborate with colleagues to standardize assessments and curriculum.
- Provide detailed feedback to students about their academic performance, along with strategies for improvement when necessary.
- Utilize technology effectively to advance the educational process and engage students.
- Adhere to the curricular requirements concerning source content and assessment.
- Display a commitment to diversity and creating a culture of equity, inclusion, and belonging in approach to teaching and learning, as they are recognized and valued by Franklin Franklin faculty members are expected to share their expertise and passions related to both academic and non-academic areas, to enrich the school community through contributions to the skills, micro-courses, and electives programs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in history; Master’s degree in Education preferred.
- At least two years of teaching experience Experience in AP coursework a plus.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- A record of success teaching to a range of learners
- Experience with inquiry-based learning in Social Studies (preferably History)
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively integrate technology into class lessons.
- Willingness to engage with and learn from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences
Compensation: $60,000-$120,000/year
