The Rutgers Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (GSAPP), in collaboration with the Graduate School of Education (GSE) has led in the development of a series of courses dedicated to translating leading-edge science into effective implementation of MTSS in K-12 settings. Multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) is a framework for providing interventions that are tailored to student learning or behavioral needs, and using data to inform decision making and organize resources.

What You'll Learn
Why is MTSS important?
Now, more than ever, students approach school with vastly different learning and behavioral needs. Teachers and other professionals and specialists in school settings need knowledge and tools that help them identify students’ learning needs, and implement evidence-based practices closely linked to those needs.
MTSS enables:
- Rapid, strategic identification of student needs.
- Matching intensity of interventions to the level of student need.
- Timely adjustment of treatments based on valid data.
Focused, Practical Professional Learning:
Using a hybrid of online and periodic in-person learning at Rutgers, New Brunswick, classes in the MTSS sequence have been designed for professionals in education and related fields, or for students pursuing careers in this area.
Classes taught by leading scholars in MTSS, including special expertise in coaching, psychoeducational assessment, as well as evidence-based intervention strategies for academic and social/behavioral/emotional learning needs.

Admissions Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree (or advanced undergraduate), or higher degree in education, psychology, or related field.
- Undergraduate transcripts, demonstrating 3.0+ GPA; attach graduate transcripts if available. Statement of Interest

Scholarships, Fellowships & Assistantships:
Generous GSE alumni, friends, and community members have established and continue to donate to more than one dozen fellowships and scholarships to help deserving students reach their goals. These awards are granted on the basis of academic achievement and or financial need. While these awards are competitive, interested students are encouraged to apply for consideration and submit the required materials. Students must also submit a FAFSA application to be eligible.
