Dr. Curran oversees and leads the GSE’s efforts to leverage the strengths and diversity of local New Jersey communities in forging relations with international communities in the following four areas:
Global Leadership
Building and strengthening mutually-beneficial relationships between the GSE and schools, universities, and other community partners in NJ and around the world; overseeing GSE global initiatives; defining priorities; communicating about policies; representing the GSE as the local/global liaison at university, state, and international levels; and collaborating with GSE offices and personnel.
Global Education
Designing faculty and staff professional development opportunities to strengthen the globalization of the GSE curricula, and strengthening global opportunities for students through curricula for international study, research, internships, service learning, and multicultural experiences for students.
Global Programs
Overseeing the development and administration of GSE local and global partnerships; conducting an inventory of existing local and global partnerships at the GSE; developing new programs or adapting current programs focused on fostering global citizenship; developing and overseeing study abroad activities, faculty and student exchanges, and scholars in residence programs; researching and applying for grants to support program efforts.
Global Relations
Promoting existing programs to international students; developing and promoting GSE programs that foster global citizenship; building and coordinating partnerships with local communities with global connections; developing international student recruitment, advising, counseling and enhancing the overall international student experience at the GSE; and greeting international visitors and linking them with appropriate GSEfaculty representatives.
