Dr. Blitz’s professional trajectory reflects a consistent focus on organizational behavior and translational research across diverse institutional settings. Her early research and training in social welfare and health policy (Ph.D., University of Pennsylvania) fostered a systems-oriented perspective on service delivery and outcomes, including studies in correctional contexts examining behavioral health treatment, victimization, and community reentry among incarcerated populations. Over time, she extended this lens to education systems and workforce development, leading multi-site initiatives supported by federal and state sponsors, including the NIH, NSF, and the U.S. Department of Education.

A central throughline of her work is strengthening the structures and routines that enable teams to use evidence effectively. By pairing rigorous study designs with practical tools, such as research-practice partnerships, logic models, and technology-enabled feedback systems, she supports the data-informed decision-making necessary for institutional improvement.

This interdisciplinary foundation directly informs her current leadership. Dr. Blitz’s recent work spans inclusive STEM and computer science pathways, with an increasing focus on human-centered AI in education. Her research in the area explores AI literacy and responsible approaches to integrating AI into teaching and assessment. She also contributes evaluation expertise to postsecondary initiatives that bridge education and health-related settings. Throughout her career, Dr. Blitz has advanced partnership-based models that link researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to solve complex problems of practice.

  • Research Interest

Dr. Blitz’s research centers on implementation science and translational research, investigating the mechanisms that enable organizations to translate research evidence into sustained, real-world practice. Her work emphasizes collaborative structures, professional learning routines, and data-use systems that allow practitioners to implement innovations with fidelity while adapting to local institutional needs.

    Current Research Themes:

    • STEM & Computer Science Education: Investigating instructional models that integrate applied AI to enhance student inquiry, problem-solving, and AI literacy across K-12 and postsecondary pathways.

    • Workforce Development & Postsecondary Success: Evaluating the institutional supports and mentorship frameworks that improve persistence and career readiness for graduate students and the future STEM and health-related workforce.

    • Implementation & Organizational Learning: Studying how strategic partnerships and technology-enabled feedback systems, such as dashboards and portals, help organizations institutionalize evidence-based decision-making.

Methodologically, Dr. Blitz employs experimental, quasi-experimental, and mixed-methods designs to understand not only if interventions work, but how and under what conditions they function across diverse educational and clinical settings.
