Dallas Grundy Receives Tri-State Consortium of Opportunity Programs in Higher Education Alumni Award
Dallas Grundy, Associate Dean of Finance and Administration at Rutgers Graduate School of Education (GSE) will receive the Tri-State Consortium of Opportunity Programs in Higher Education Alumni Award for 2013.
This award was created by the Executive Board of the Consortium to recognize outstanding alumni from Opportunity Programs in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York, who have demonstrated exceptional achievements during their college and professional careers, and demonstrate the spirit and intent of opportunity programs.
Grundy attended Rutgers as an undergraduate majoring in Engineering, and was enrolled in the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Program. “The EOF program allowed me to do things I would never have been able to accomplish otherwise.’ said Grundy. He further pursued his education and received a Masters in Business Administration from Rutgers Business School – Newark and New Brunswick in 1999.
As Associate Dean, Grundy is responsible for all GSE accounting, finance, human resources, administration, facilities management and information technology designs. Although he seldom sees the inside of a classroom, he views his work essential to supporting future teachers and improving education for students.
“I’m very surprised by it but I’m very grateful for this award,” said Grundy. “Rutgers and the EOF Program has provided me opportunities which allowed me to do all things I did and I’m very appreciative of the program and the people who supported me: my Dean, EOF colleagues, and everyone else who helped me along the way.”
Grundy hopes to stay involved with the Consortium by helping out students who are currently enrolled in Opportunity Programs, in ways such as leadership opportunities and workshops within the program. To the students currently enrolled in Opportunity Programs, he advised to “strive in school, participate in organizations, and make the best out of the program because it can lead you to something great.”
Dallas Grundy will be receiving the award on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at the Tri-State Conference Awards Banquet.
