Academic Programs at the GSE

As one of the nation’s most highly regarded education schools, the Graduate School of Education at Rutgers challenges students to advance their own knowledge while creating the best in education practice, policy, and research for all learners. Here at the GSE, graduate students pursue advanced study in education, working toward Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), Doctor of Education (Ed.D.), or Master of Education (Ed.M.) degrees. They study a wide variety of areas, from student learning to effective practices for teachers and leaders to the kinds of state policy that promote good student outcomes.

Professional educators across New Jersey and around the region turn to the GSE for the rigorous certificate and endorsement programs that lead to increased knowledge, specialized skills, and career advancement. The GSE also reaches undergraduate students through our five-year teacher education programs and an education minor.

Students at Rutgers’ GSE conduct their studies within one of the nation’s premier public research universities and alongside a stellar faculty of nationally known education scholars and researchers. Guided by the latest research-based insights, our graduates bring expertise and enthusiasm to schools and education institutions, students and families, and communities and nations.
