GSE Salutes Our Very Own

For over 50 years, the Rutgers Alumni Association has honored alumni who have made a meaningful and long-standing commitment to Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Among this year's class of ten outstanding "Loyal Sons & Daughters" who were honored April 9 are two of GSE’s very own: Roberta Shulman Kanarick and Richard Lloyd.

Roberta Shulman KanarickDC'64, GSE'92   Roberta has provided dedicated service and leadership to the University in many different areas.  As president of the Rutgers University Alumni Federation (RUAF), Roberta led efforts on implementation of the new credit card and insurance contracts to generate revenue for alumni organizations.  She worked closely with the RAA on membership drives, Homecoming, and Reunion planning. For several years she has been Board member and officer of the Graduate School of Education Alumni Association (GSEAA).  Under her leadership, the GSEAA has regularly participated in Rutgers Day, Reunion, Homecoming and Hall of Distinguished Alumni, and in 2010 partnered with the RAA for the Annual Undergraduate Speed Networking Event.

Richard "Dick" Lloyd – GSE'68   Dick has been an integral part of the Rutgers community for over 45 years. Although employed by Rutgers, his service went well beyond the requirements of his position. Dick's persistence and commitment led to the success of the Regional Clubs program, along with so many others such as the Capital Campaign "Paid Caller" Phonation, Alumni Travel, the Rutgers Hall of Distinguished Alumni, Alumni Legacy Scholarships, and the "Pride in Rutgers Network" campaign. In 2004, he was the recipient of the Rutgers University Alumni Federation's Meritorious Service Award. Retired since 2003, Dick continues to serve as color commentator for Rutgers basketball radio broadcasts, a role he's enjoyed for many years.

GSE is proud of Roberta and Dick for their outstanding service to Rutgers!
