The Forgotten Migration: The Black Struggle for Graduate Education in the Age of Jim Crow

At this event, Crystal R. Sanders will examine the experiences of Black southerners, compelled to leave their home states and families in pursuit of graduate training. In addition to shedding light on the high personal costs Black students endured by leaving the only land they knew, Sanders will discuss how the practice of exporting Black scholars stifled the curricular development of public Black colleges.
