GSE Launches Students Supporting Students Fundraising Campaign

Rutgers Graduate School of Education (GSE) has launched a new fundraising campaign entitled “Students Supporting Students.” Modeled after the student campaign initiated by Rutgers School of Social Work last year, GSE’s “Students Supporting Students” campaign is designed to raise funds for student scholarships from soon-to-be alumni in honor of their class year–2013. The suggested donation amount is $20.13 but gifts of any size will be accepted.

Currently, GSE offers more than one dozen scholarship and fellowship awards to its students but the need for financial aid continues to increase. This new program will raise funds during the spring 2013 semester with scholarship awards being made at the conclusion of the campaign. Unlike other scholarship awards that require eligible students to apply, the “Students Supporting Students” award(s) will be granted at random, meaning the entire GSE student body in residence for fall 2013 will be eligible to receive this scholarship.

The goal of the campaign is to have full participation from this year’s graduating class. Although the campaign is targeted towards graduating students, continuing students, as well as faculty and staff are also encouraged to make donations to the program. Demonstrating his support for the effort, Dr. Richard De Lisi, Dean and Professor of Rutgers Graduate School of Education, donated $1000 of his own personal money to the cause and is the campaign’s first donor.

Donations are currently being accepted at GSE’s Office of Development, which is located in the Dean’s Suite on the first floor. The Dean will be visiting several classes in March, and the Office of Development will be reaching out to students to encourage participation in the campaign.

All donors will receive a Rutgers GSE pin and a list of campaign donors will be featured on GSE’s website in recognition and celebration for their support.
