Dr. Belzer to Become Editor of an Adult Education Journal

Dr. Alisa Belzer has been named co-editor of The Journal of Research and Practice for Adult Literacy, Secondary, and Basic Education. She will begin the three-year term in January 2015 with co-editors Dr. Amy Rose, Professor of Adult and Higher Education at Northern Illinois University; and Dr. Heather Brown, Executive Director of the Women + Girls Research Alliance at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Dr. Belzer is an Associate Professor at Rutgers Graduate School of Education (GSE) and currently serves as director of the Education Doctorate program and coordinator of the Adult and Continuing Education masters program.

Dr. Belzer’s research focuses on adult literacy education, professional development, practitioner inquiry, and policy. She is affiliated with a number of professional organizations that focus on adult education including American Association for Adult and Continuing Education, Commission on Adult Basic Education (COABE), and New Jersey Association for Lifelong Learning.

The Journal of Research and Practice for Adult Literacy, Secondary, and Basic Education, which is published three times a year by COABE, uses the exchange of research, ideas, and experiences in efforts to advance the field of adult basic education. The journal includes research articles on GED, adult literacy, English as a second language, and adult secondary education.
