Announcement of Ed.D. Dissertation Defense: Video Use in Higher Education Classrooms: A Qualitative Exploration Of Adult Learner Engagement and Understanding

Thursday, March 26, 2020 1:00pm - 3:00pm

Rutgers GSE room 11

Educators must establish alternative means that foster the understanding of concepts other than having adult learners simply rely on the instructor alone (Sogunro, 2015). Video collectively presents numerous data together such as images, movement and sound, which creates opportunities for comprehensive learning (Kosterelioglu, 2016). In this qualitative research study, the effects of incorporating video into class lectures on students’ understanding and self-reported engagement within the context of higher education classrooms is explored. The objective for this study is to characterize how learners respond to different types of videos and how they describe their own learning from these.
