Center Coordinator (Part-Time)

Department: Democracy House: Center for Community Outreach and Learning

Reports to: Faculty Director, Democracy House 



Coordinates the College’s Bonner AmeriCorps Program[1]:

·       Organizes and runs weekly All-Corps meeting

·       Student Selection - Develops and implements plans to identify, recruit and select students

·       Organizes and leads program orientation

·       Track’s student’s participation and manage records utilizing a web-based reporting system

·       Works with Community Partners to create annual site plans and monitor progress with respect to community impact and student development goals and objectives.

·       Functions as the main liaison with community agencies and populations served

·       Conducts site visits and periodic student interviews.

·       Prepare reports to the national foundation

·       Attends national and local conferences with college students and youth participants.


Assists other Center activities:

·       Runs monthly meeting with DH Club Members (general MCC students interested in Community service)

·       Helps organize and implement the Community Service Fair, Speakers Series and various volunteer drives.

·       Works with college faculty to develop service-learning placements within their courses.

·       Performs other appropriate duties as assigned.  



·       Bachelor’s degree (Master’s Preferred) with 1-3 years work in a relevant field.

·       Significant experience in volunteer service, civic leadership, community organizing or non-profit management

·       Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

·       Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work with diverse populations.

·       Ability to work limited nights and weekends and willingness to accompany students to 1-2 national conferences.


SCHEDULE:  Part-time, 20 hours a week with some evenings and weekends required.  Position begins in mid-August


SALARY: Hourly Rate $20/Hr.

[1] Each year, 10 MCC students receive support from the Corporation for National and Community Service and participate in the Bonner Leaders Program, serving as members of AmeriCorps.  MCC Bonners perform 10-15 hours per week performing service with Community partners, as well as attending training and educational sessions.
