Cindy Hmelo-Silver, an associate professor in Educational Psychology, has been appointed co-editor of Journal of the Learning Sciences for a five year term beginning July 1, 2008. JLS is a multidisciplinary forum for the presentation and discussion of important ideas that can lead to changes in understanding of learning and educational practices. It draws on ideas from a variety of disciplines such as cognitive science, cognitive and educational psychology, artificial intelligence, cognitive anthropology, and education. JLS had the highest impact factor of educational research journals for the last year and has been among the most highly cited journals in education for the last 5 years.
