The Graduate Study application must be completed online at http://gradstudy.rutgers.edu. The following steps should help you navigate the application:
1. Click on Apply Now and follow the instructions given.
2. Choose "Non-Degree Application", for Application Type
3. For Program Name choose "Professional Credit Programs" from the drop down menu.
4. Under GSE Professional Credit Program 15000 choose the semester in which you wish to participate.
5. For Enrollment Year, select the corresponding year for the semester in which you wish to participate.
6. Select "No" for Full Time Study
7. Under Concentration, choose your desired certification/endorsement
Supporting materials such as transcripts, personal statement, and letters of recommendation do not need to be submitted with this application. Continue completing the application, pay the $65 fee and exit the program. Non-degree applications are good for 5 years.
Shortly after you have completed the application you will be sent verification via email and assigned an RUID number. Please commit this number to memory as you will need it throughout your time in the program.
If you don’t receive your RUID within 24 hours of completing your graduate application, call the Graduate Admissions office at (732) 932-7711 for assistance.

Due to a system-embedded prerequisite block, students are unable to use the web-registration system to register for the following Special Education Certification program courses: 05:300:480, 05:300:481, & 05:300:495. To register for these three courses (and only these courses) please email gsece@rci.rutgers.edu with the following information: Subject: "Prereq Override Request", Your Name, RU ID, Email, Course Name, Course Number and Index #. Your registration will be confirmed via email once it has been processed
Concerning Non-Degree Status
Successful completion of courses taken as a non-degree student does not mean that a student will be admitted to a degree program. Non-degree students may take as many courses as they wish, but only twelve of those credits may be transferred in the fulfillment of degree requirements in most programs. Application of those twelve credits is at the discretion of the academic department. Admission to degree candidacy is based on academic transcript review, personal statement, GRE scores, academic and professional recommendations, and formal application. These criteria and the procedures through which they are employed are spelled out in the GSE catalog. Faculty are available to discuss admissions procedures and degree requirements with prospective degree candidates.
Concerning the 100 Hour New Jersey Professional Development Requirement
The Rutgers Graduate School of Education is a registered provider (vendor #96) of professional development programs, credit and non-credit, that may count toward the 100 hour requirement.
