The 2006-2007 academic year has been memorable for Rutgers University in several respects. The University prepared for an accreditation review, a major capital campaign, and for a new School of Arts and Sciences on the New Brunswick campus. GSE faculty and staff have worked with colleagues across the University on each of these initiatives. At GSE, we launched the Rutgers Center for Literacy Development and are pleased to have ten school districts and 100 professional staff throughout New Jersey as inaugural members. This year GSE joined the Carnegie Professional Education Doctorate initiative.
In the upcoming 2007-2008 academic year, GSE will be recruiting for several tenure-track faculty positions, including Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. Additional information about faculty recruitment will be placed on the front page of our website over the summer months. Faculty recruitment will occur in the Fall 2007 semester.
Our faculty and students conduct research in several critical areas including: early education; educational equity and social justice; literacy development; and mathematical and scientific learning, reasoning, and teaching. Along with our partners, we are home to the Regional Educational Laboratory for the Mid-Atlantic region. GSE’s Center for Effective School Practices and our Rutgers Institute for Improving Student Achievement serve to connect GSE with professional educators throughout New Jersey. Rutgers GSE continues to produce outstanding scholars, educational leaders, teachers, and counselors. Working with our talented student body and helping them to achieve their professional goals is another important way that our School helps to enhance educational practice in New Jersey and beyond. We are very proud of our graduates and appreciate the positive response they have received in schools, universities, and other professional settings throughout our State and Nation.
In closing, let me again welcome you to this website for Rutgers’ Graduate School of Education.
